Now the cool, crisp days of autumn have turned decidedly windy and cold. The dark days of winter seem never ending. Snow is falling and Old Man Winter’s grip is tight. Everything seems a bit gloomier this time of year, except for the clothes
Contrary to what most believe, the chilly winters provide the fashion conscious women / ladies ample opportunities to rev up their style quotient. Here’s info on what’s hot on the fashion scene in women clothing this winter season (2008/09). You needn’t spend a fortune for this. Infact, the idea is to go totally creative! So throw open your winter wardrobe, skim through the contents – denims, skirts, jackets, accessories, shoes et al. and make a mental list of what can be mix-matched with what this season. Come up with some really cool ensembles!

Layer up Imaginatively!

Do not underdress during winters because your attempt to look ‘cool’ may end up making you look ‘cold’. Instead layer up imaginatively. Begin with thermals and then go on to wear long fitted dark / bright colored knitted tops under short denim / leather jackets. Complete the look by teaming it up with a woolen skirt or a pair of denims as per your desire.

Coats are pretty much a necessity if you live in a city that experiences a true winter season — the kind that requires you to scrape ice off your windshield and turns your breath into smoke-like puffs. Coats trends change often. However, the one type of coat that continues to appear on runways is the wool coat. Wool outerwear items are perfect because they are interchangeable. You can wear them with casual tops and jeans, as well as with formal dresses and suits.
There are numerous things to consider when you are shopping for a wool coat or jacket. The most important thing to remember is to buy a wool coat that is lined with some sort of soft material like nylon. Try it on and walk around to make certain that the lining is thick enough to protect you from itchy fibers that can make the coat unbearable. Shoes

Whether you live in the Southwest or the Northeast, the footwear of choice in the winter are boots. The most popular boots are leather boots. For women, the selection includes everything from knee-high to thigh-high to ankle boots. For men, ankle boots and cowboy boots are enough.
Almost everyone has at least one pair of brown leather boots and one pair of black leather boots. While some of us only stick to those two shades, others opt for colorful boots to match their favorite outfits. In fact, nowadays, new fashion trends allow us to wear leather boots with almost any ensemble, including business suits, jeans, mini skirts and even evening wear.

Denim Jeans – An All-time Favorite

Denims are an all time favorite of both men and women the year round. Go for the skinny fit, low slung ones if you have the figure to flaunt. Dark blue, browns, black – go for them in all colors and texture. For outing in the evenings, don denim jeans adorned with embroidery along the pockets, the thigh region and the sides. Levis, Pepe, United Colors of Benetton, and other known brands are popular for their snug fit.

There are a myriad range of coats and jackets styles available in the market for females. One can go for the hip-length fitted ones in leather, corduroy, denims, woolen and other fabrics or sleek mid-thigh / knee-length ones. Price range of these varies from few hundred rupees to thousands depending upon the brand, location of purchase, purchasing power of the wearer and so on incase you plan to buy a new one.
